FAQS

You Ask - I Answer

HOW LONG AND HOW OFTEN?

Each session is 55 minutes. I would say the typical cadence of therapy for my clients is weekly at first, then dropping to biweekly once you feel you are gaining traction and needing more time between sessions to practice new skills. With that being said, the frequency of therapy varies and we will discuss what feels best for you.

WHY SEE A MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST?

Couples therapy often gets a bad reputation for dredging up old conflict or only discussing the "problem of the week". Marriage and family therapists are trained in systems theory, meaning we have unique training that lends itself to working with more than one person at a time. While I do teach skills like any other therapist, my focus is on the patterns of interaction that are causing dysfunction.

HOW MUCH ARE SESSIONS?

$150 for 55 minute sessions. Contact me for sliding scale options if needed.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

I am in network with Optum, Aetna, & Cigna. Rates are dependent on your specific plan and the contract your insurance has with the billing platform I use, Alma. https://secure.helloalma.com/check-my-insurance-coverage/

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

Cash, personal check, credit and debit cards can be used. HSAs or medical FSAs can be utilized to pay for sessions regardless of who your insurance provider is. Currently, I am an out-of-network provider for all insurances except for those contracted with Alma. What I have found is that some insurance companies will reimburse services with an out-of-network provider if they are given the necessary information. In that event, let me know and I can provide you with a receipt of services or "superbill". Please contact your insurance provider to inquire about the details of reimbursement for an out-of-network provider. If you have more questions, I am happy to answer what I can and/or talk through financial barriers to treatment.
